We Will Have an Abnormally Warm January, Surenyan
In January, the average monthly air temperature across the entire territory of the republic is expected to be 3 to 5 degrees higher than the climatic norm, with precipitation levels around the norm. This was announced at a press conference by Gagik Surenyan, deputy director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center.
“This means that we will have an abnormally warm January with sufficient precipitation in some areas. On certain days, the temperature in the mountainous regions of the republic will reach +5 to +9 degrees Celsius during the daytime, while in the valley areas of Syunik, the maximum temperature may reach +16 to +20 degrees. In the Ararat Plain and Yerevan, the air temperature will rise to +10 to +14 degrees Celsius during the daytime,” Surenyan specified.
According to him, until now, Armenia has been under the influence of tropical warm air currents. The air temperature across the entire territory of the republic will continue to remain about 6 to 8 degrees above climatic norms. The warm air currents are not expected to retreat in the next five days.
