Is Zelensky Planning to Dismiss Zaluzhnyi?
President Volodymyr Zelensky has held his year-end press conference, during which he announced that the scale of mobilization in Ukraine could significantly increase. Local media reports this information.
The president stated that Ukrainian military personnel have requested to mobilize 450,000 to 500,000 people, but he suggested finalizing the plan to consider not only the recruitment of new forces but also their demobilization after approximately two years.
He also mentioned that he does not intend to sign a mobilization law that implies the conscription of women into the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces; however, he may agree to the mobilization of Ukrainians over the age of 25 under certain conditions.
The Ukrainian president noted that Russia has been unable to achieve a "single victory" in the war and dismissed assumptions that Ukraine is at risk of losing.
Zelensky hesitated in commenting on the situation on the front lines and the relationship with military command, struggling to conceal his frustration and repeatedly avoiding a direct answer to whether he plans to dismiss the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.
Ultimately, Zelensky referred to the commander-in-chief as a member of his team and emphasized that he expects specific results and work for the benefit of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president also expressed confidence that the United States will soon be able to unlock additional military aid for Kyiv.
