Lavrov and Abdollahian Agree to Accelerate Coordination of Inter-State 'Big' Treaty

The foreign ministers of Russia and Iran, Sergey Lavrov and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, had a phone conversation yesterday, discussing issues related to the outcomes of the negotiations between the presidents of the two countries held on December 7 in Moscow.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's press service reported that an agreement has been reached to expedite the work on coordinating the new 'big' inter-state treaty.

The statement noted, 'There has been a separate discussion regarding the situation in the Palestine-Israel conflict zone. The parties expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing escalation. The importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities and the provision of urgent assistance to the affected civilian population was emphasized, as well as the need to mobilize UN authority for this purpose.'
