Video: The Prime Minister's Call Regarding the Car Customs Clearance Process
Starting January 1, residents of Armenia who bring in temporary vehicles from third countries will be required to leave a deposit at the border. The amount payable at a unified rate for the temporarily imported vehicle will be transferred to the treasury account of the State Budget of Armenia, which will be refunded in case of re-export within the specified timeframe for temporary import, based on the citizen's application.
Artem Karapetyan, head of the Customs Control Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), stated at a press conference that they are trying to regulate the existing situation. 'What was happening? Many people, while permanently residing in Armenia, bring in a car from a third country, temporarily import it, and naturally do not clear it through customs. After a year, they cross the border, return, and continue to operate the vehicle without clearing it through customs. This vehicle is used for personal purposes, and in some cases, they engage in economic activities with it. As a result, unequal conditions are created for those who, while permanently residing in Armenia, bring in a vehicle and not only clear it through customs but also pay the necessary taxes,' said Artem Karapetyan.
As of January 1, the situation will change. Those who have permanent residency in Armenia and bring in temporary vehicles from third countries will be forced to leave a deposit at the border.
