WHO Conducts Evacuation of Newborns from Al-Shifa Hospital
The World Health Organization (WHO) is carrying out an evacuation operation for newborns from Al-Shifa Hospital. According to Muhammad Zakout, the director of hospitals within the Gaza Strip's Hamas structures, a WHO team is being dispatched to the enclave's largest hospital to evacuate newborns.
Associated Press reporters have seen a convoy of ambulances accompanied by UN vehicles heading north toward Gaza City. The WHO has expressed hope of evacuating patients to the south of the enclave.
The Israel Defense Forces, which have taken control of the hospital, stated that they are working to evacuate as many patients as possible from the facility, which the IDF claims was being used by Hamas as a command center. Last week, Israeli forces delivered mobile incubators to the hospital for the evacuation of newborns.
