Vladikavkaz-Lars Road Temporarily Closed: Cause Identified

All types of vehicular traffic on the Military Road have been temporarily halted due to worsening weather conditions, reports the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for North Ossetia.

"Due to deteriorating weather conditions in the territory of Georgia, the impossibility of ensuring safe vehicular traffic, and taking into account the instructions from the Georgian border police, traffic for all types of vehicles in the Vladikavkaz-Lars section heading out of the Russian Federation is prohibited from November 19, 2023, at 18:20 until further notice," the agency announced via its Telegram channel.

Earlier reports indicated that the section of road leading to the Upper Lars checkpoint at the Georgian-Russian border was closed for trucks due to snow and black ice. The Military Road is the only land route connecting Armenia with Russia, and it is regularly closed due to inclement weather.
