EU Doubles Humanitarian Aid Package, Says Borrell
The EU has doubled its humanitarian aid package to €10.45 million. Armenia will receive €15 million in budgetary support to meet social and economic needs. This was announced by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
“A budgetary support of €15 million will be provided to Armenia to address social and economic needs as well as to finance food and fuel,” the statement said. Further actions are being prepared to provide short-term assistance and to support Armenia's security and resilience, as well as the stability of its democratic institutions, including within the framework of the Economic and Investment Program,” the announcement continued.
Earlier, Josep Borrell stated that the European Union continues to make efforts to resume negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia with the aim of concluding a peace treaty.
