San Francisco's streets have been cleared of homeless individuals and drug users ahead of Chinese leader Xi Jinping's visit, reports The New York Post.

They have been forcibly resettled to distant areas of the city, and tent encampments have been dismantled. It is noted that Xi Jinping's visit to the United States is related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. To ensure his safety, the roads have been barricaded with iron rods, and the number of police officers in the city has increased.

New flower beds have also been installed along the streets, trash has been removed, stray dogs have been captured, and efforts to beautify the city have been actively initiated. Local residents express dissatisfaction, claiming that these are merely temporary measures. On regular days, the publication notes, one can witness numerous homeless people in the city's center, as well as individuals sprawled on sidewalks in an unconscious state after drug use.
