David Khachatryan Elected Judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Armenia
David Khachatryan, brother of the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia, Sasun Khachatryan, has been elected as a judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Armenia. The National Assembly of Armenia made the election decision through a secret ballot that lasted about an hour, requiring at least three-fifths of the total votes of the deputies.
As stated by the head of the counting commission, Narek Babayan, 67 deputies participated in the voting, with no invalid ballots cast.
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia had submitted David Khachatryan, Anahit Hakobyan, and Manvel Shahverdyan as candidates for the vacant position of judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.
Naïra Hovsepyan was elected as a judge of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of Armenia. The Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia had nominated Karen Tumanian, Naïra Hovsepyan, and Gurgen Malxasyan for the civil chamber's vacant position.
Naïra Hovsepyan is the mother of Gevorg Arshakyans, who was killed in the 44-day war, and worked as a judge in the first instance court, as well as being a lecturer at Yerevan State University and a member of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia.
Today, the National Assembly also voted and adopted all the draft laws discussed in the first and second readings. The agenda of the National Assembly has been exhausted, and the session has concluded.
