Azerbaijan Has No Plans to Attack Syunik, Says Hajiyev
Azerbaijan's presidential assistant Hikmet Hajiyev stated in an interview with 'Político' that Azerbaijan does not intend to pursue a military solution or attack Syunik. According to Hajiyev, the project has lost its attractiveness. 'Instead, we can do this with Iran,' he announced.
Commenting on Azerbaijan's and Nakhichevan's transportation ties and the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace negotiations, Hajiyev said, 'There are real chances for signing a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the near future. Our agenda was only about establishing a transportation hub and connectivity within the framework of bilateral engagement. If that is the case, yes, but if not, then good. It is still on the table, but the Armenian side must demonstrate that it is genuinely interested in it.'
