Germany Deploys Elite Special Forces to Cyprus
German Bundeswehr special operations unit soldiers have arrived in Cyprus. Their armaments have also been transported to the region, reports BILD.
Additionally, the German Navy's special operations forces, known as the "combat swimmers," have been concentrated in Cyprus for potential maritime operations. The federal police's special unit, which focuses on hostage rescues, has also been mobilized. The Bundeswehr has concentrated air transport aircraft in the region.
“We are on a low readiness and prepared for any option,” stated the German government.
The potential objectives of operations include the rescue of German hostages from Hamas captivity, as well as the evacuation of all German citizens from the Gaza Strip or Lebanon.
