EU Unconditionally Supports Armenia's Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity, Says Metsola
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, stated during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Strasbourg that Armenia is a crucial partner for the European Union.
"We provide unconditional support to Armenia regarding its independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of borders," she announced.
Metsola noted that during the previous plenary session, they adopted a joint statement condemning the attacks on Nagorno-Karabakh. According to her, attention should now focus on resuming peaceful negotiations.
"We urge respect for the rights and security of Armenians. The active involvement of the international community in Nagorno-Karabakh is imperative. Our efforts should be directed towards providing guarantees to the Armenian population continuing to reside in Nagorno-Karabakh, fostering peace and reconciliation. We remain committed to all efforts aimed at normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on the principles of independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders of both countries," emphasized Roberta Metsola.
