Residents in Germany Oppose Construction of Ammunition Factory for Ukraine, Fear Putin's Reaction

Residents of Großenhain, Germany, have expressed opposition to the construction of an ammunition factory for Ukraine, fearing the reaction from Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the New York Times.

The German company Rheinmetall, a well-known manufacturer of military equipment and weapons, intended to build a new factory in Großenhain to meet the increasing demand from Ukraine. However, the residents of the city have refused to support this project.

Sixteen out of the twenty-two members of the Großenhain city council have sent a letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz calling for the project to be blocked. Some residents are concerned that the factory could provoke President Putin, making their city a military target.
