UNICEF Reports 29,000 Children Among Displaced Persons from Artsakh
There are 29,000 children among the individuals displaced from Artsakh to the Republic of Armenia. This was reported by the Italian branch of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
“UNICEF has created a safe space in Goris, where approximately 300 children and their parents are received every day. The center includes a playground, a designated area for breastfeeding mothers, and programs to assist children in solving complex issues,” the statement said.
The fund has provided health authorities with medications and necessary supplies for children to be distributed to healthcare facilities in densely populated areas filled with displaced persons. It was noted that 15 mobile bio-toilets have been installed in the centers of Goris and Vayk, and family hygiene kits have been provided for 100 families in central Yerevan. New shipments are set to arrive in Armenia today, which the international organization will distribute to displaced children and families.
