Baku Calls on Armenian Population to Live Together, Says Azerbaijani Official
Baku calls on the Armenian population to live together. This was announced by Ali Nagiev, the head of Azerbaijan's State Security Service, noting that the Azerbaijani state and its people do not want war.
“We urge the Armenian population to live together. Today, we are concerned about the prompt restoration of the settlements destroyed as a result of military aggression and the quick return of 750,000 displaced residents to their homes,” Nagiev stated.
He also mentioned that “currently, some Armenian ideologues, invoking history, raise the question of the impossibility of Armenians and Azerbaijanis living together.” However, he argued that “the question arises, how the Armenian population was able to live comfortably in Baku and other parts of Azerbaijan, including Nagorno-Karabakh, as respected citizens for a long time before the military conflict, having a significant status in society.”
