Photos: Erdoğan Effigy Burned in Front of Swedish Parliament Building
An effigy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was burned in front of the Swedish Parliament building. According to Turkish media reports, the Stockholm police simply observed the events as they unfolded.
It is noteworthy that Sweden is awaiting Ankara’s approval for its NATO membership. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg had previously stated that he hopes for progress regarding Turkey’s ratification of Sweden's membership after the Turkish parliament resumes its meetings this autumn.
A source from Erdoğan's administration told RIA Novosti that pressure on Ankara regarding this issue is futile and unacceptable.
