«The CSTO is showing inaction towards Armenia»: Sargis Khandanyan
Currently, there is no process underway for Armenia to withdraw from the CSTO. This was stated today, September 7, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly by Sargis Khandanyan, the chairman of the NA Foreign Relations Committee.
He noted that the CSTO has "washed its hands and walked away from Armenia."
"The CSTO is showing inaction towards Armenia," Khandanyan stated. He pointed out that there are questions directed at Russia as a strategic ally, but Armenia has not received answers for a long time.
When asked if alternatives for changing the security system are being discussed, Khandanyan replied, "The reforms of Armenia's armed forces and, in general, the security system must continue. In this regard, we must be open to cooperating with all those countries that have such interests."
It is worth reminding that yesterday, Bogdan Bezhalko, a member of the Council for Foreign Relations under the President of Russia, stated that there is a risk of Armenia withdrawing from the CSTO.
Moreover, a few days ago, Viktor Biagov was recalled from his position as Armenia's permanent and plenipotentiary representative in the CSTO, leaving that position vacant.
