Foreign Investment Climate in Armenia is Unfavorable, Says Abrahamyan
There are no favorable conditions for foreign investments in Armenia. This was stated by Ara Abrahamyan, the president of the Union of Armenians in Russia, during a press conference.
Abrahamyan noted that he is accompanied by large investors from various countries during each visit to Armenia. This time, they have come from Germany, Iran, and Switzerland.
“Last time, the head of the largest insurance company in the United States came. They wanted to open a business here, but you cannot imagine how many problems there are in Armenia. There are no favorable conditions for investments, I, as a businessman, say. I can mention 400 reasons, but I won’t,” said Abrahamyan.
According to the president of the Union of Armenians in Russia, the connection with the Armenian diaspora has deteriorated over the last five years, and this is not only about Armenians living in Russia, but worldwide.
“In the last five years, the diaspora has divided and disintegrated, and everyone only expresses their opinion. The connection with the diaspora has been severed, and Armenia has lost a powerful force. During this time, about 400 national organizations have opened in Russia, which have closed very quickly. The owners of those organizations thought they could do everything without working, but they were mistaken. During their short-term operations, they have also negatively affected the Union of Armenians in Russia, thinking that by doing so they could achieve more, move forward, but this has not had a good effect on us,” he noted.
According to Abrahamyan, there is also a problem in the diaspora with many speaking badly about each other, trying to undermine those who are working. He claims that many think that by insulting and criticizing each other on social networks or in real life, Azerbaijan will leave Armenia and Artsakh will become independent.
