Red Cross Representative Visits Vagif Khachatryan in Baku Hospital, Says Artsakh Ombudsman

Vagif Khachatryan, who was abducted by Azerbaijani border guards, is currently being held at a hospital in Baku. Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross have visited him. This was stated by GeghamStepanyan, the Ombudsman of Artsakh, in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia.

When asked whether Khachatryan was able to establish contact with his relatives, Stepanyan found it difficult to say, noting, “It is likely that he has not, otherwise I would have known about it.”

It should be recalled that Vagif Khachatryan was abducted by representatives of the Azerbaijani border service on July 29 while being transported from Artsakh to Armenia. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan has announced that he has been arrested. Khachatryan is accused of allegedly forming a criminal group that participated in crimes against the residents of the Meshali village in the Khojaly region on December 21, 1991.
