Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Issues Statement on the Abduction of Vagif Khachatryan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has issued a statement regarding the abduction of 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan, a resident of Artsakh, in the Lachin corridor and his transfer to Azerbaijani territory.
The ministry confirmed that Khachatryan was being transferred to Armenia with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross for medical treatment and has been placed in one of the healthcare facilities in Baku, where he has received the necessary medical care and conditions have been created for visits from ICRC representatives.
Moreover, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the Armenian Foreign Ministry is allegedly “continuing to engage in political manipulation to divert the attention of the international community and evade its obligations.”
“The accusations directed at Azerbaijan by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are completely unfounded,” the ministry asserted.
It is important to recall that on Saturday, Azerbaijan abducted Vagif Khachatryan, a 68-year-old citizen of Artsakh, who was being transferred to Armenia for medical reasons.
