Lukashenko Discusses Plans Post-Presidency
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko stated that he does not see himself as the head of state exclusively for his own benefit, as reported by BELTA. According to him, the Belarusian people have granted him the corresponding powers.
“If you think that being in this position has brought me excessive rewards, you are mistaken. There is nothing of the sort. I work in a high position that the people have trusted me with. I do not govern. I do not decide whether to be in power or not,” Lukashenko said during a meeting with media representatives.
He also added that he does not consider himself the only person capable of leading the country. Lukashenko emphasized that he is contemplating the future of Belarus and the end of his presidency.
“I think about what will happen next, what will happen after me. But if I remain after my presidential term, I will follow this path and fight for a sovereign and independent Belarus,” concluded the President of Belarus.
