Former Deputy Minister of Defense Appears in Court
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, former Deputy Minister of Defense Alik Mirzabekyan appeared in the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia yesterday. He had been summoned several times to appear before the court as a witness in the criminal case against former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, but he had previously declined to attend due to health issues.
Now, he finally presented himself at the court, stating that he has health problems and therefore cannot appear in court again. It's worth noting that the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper had previously reported that former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan and several former officials of the Ministry of Defense had been summoned to court. Seyran Ohanyan has appeared and been interrogated, while the interrogation of the Ministry of Defense employees is ongoing.
Additionally, Alik Mirzabekyan was removed from his position as Deputy Minister of Defense for Material and Technical Support in 2016 by order of Serzh Sargsyan. Reports indicate that Mirzabekyan had conducted purchases of weapons and food supplies at prices higher than the market value.
