The Document is Almost Ready: Russian Deputy Prime Minister on Negotiations
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk has commented on the results of the trilateral meeting of the commission for unblocking regional connections, emphasizing that no one questions Armenia's sovereignty.
In an interview with Sputnik Armenia, Overchuk noted that the talks between the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place in Moscow, lasted nine hours.
"In principle, the text is in the final stages of preparation. There are two or three contradictions that still need to be discussed, but the points regarding the route of the railway have been agreed upon. We have voiced this, and we have agreed on how the customs control of the cargoes will be implemented," said Overchuk.
According to Overchuk, this will be a regular railway with standard border control including passport, border, and customs oversight. He mentioned that all parties are ready for its "prompt launch." In response to a clarifying question about whether the possible participation of the Russian FSB in oversight and security is being discussed, Overchuk stated, "That depends on Armenia."
