Peskov Denies Reports of Russia's Interference in Turkey's Elections
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, has dismissed rumors regarding Russia's possible interference in Turkey's presidential and parliamentary elections, emphasizing that such information is spread by liars.
Earlier, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the unified candidate of the opposition in Turkey's presidential elections and leader of the Republican People's Party, made a statement in Russian on Twitter calling on Russia not to interfere in the elections.
“I don’t know what prompted such calls… We categorically reject such statements and officially declare that there can be no question of any interference. If someone provided Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu with such information, then they are liars, and that should be stated,” Peskov said.
Overall, he emphasized that the Russian Federation holds the bilateral relations with the Republic of Turkey in high regard.
