Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Statement
On the morning of May 11, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement regarding the gunfire in Sotk.
"In the early morning of May 11, the armed forces of Azerbaijan, once again resorting to provocative and aggressive actions, opened fire using mortars and artillery on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian side has casualties.
This latest violation of one of the fundamental principles of international law—a prohibition on the use of force or the threat of force—highlights the disregard of the Azerbaijani side for the agreements reached, including the commitments undertaken in the trilateral statement of October 31, 2022, in Sochi.
We call on the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan to cease its unfounded, unjustified, and shameful attempts to disrupt the negotiation process through the use of force and to exert pressure on Armenia," the statement reads.
