Food and Medicine Sent to Four Blockaded Villages in Artsakh
After the illegal establishment of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan on April 23 at the Armenia border along the main road connecting Artsakh to Armenia (in the Lachin corridor), the four communities in the Berdadzor sub-region of Shushi (Hin Shen, Mets Shen, Yeghdzahogh, and Lisagor) have been placed under a bilateral blockade, deprived of all potential connections to the remaining parts of Artsakh and Armenia.
This was announced by the State Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan. Due to Azerbaijani obstacles, all types of humanitarian supplies to the residents of these villages had also ceased, leading to a severe humanitarian crisis in recent days, with no stock of essential supplies available.
Today, we have finally managed to send one truckload of food, medicine, and other essential goods to the residents of these communities through the Russian peacekeepers, by the efforts of the Artsakh government. Azerbaijan continues to maintain a complete blockade of Artsakh through the illegal checkpoint set up at the Artsakh-Armenia border and through the explicit illegal obstruction of roads near Shushi by the Azerbaijani state.
Moreover, humanitarian supplies to Artsakh are carried out by Russian peacekeeping forces in very limited volumes. We are making additional efforts toward the restoration of transport through the International Committee of the Red Cross.
