Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Complains, Edmon Marukyan
Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed dissatisfaction that Armenia has removed the phrase "condemnation of separatism" from the document proposed by Azerbaijan. This was reported by Armenia's Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan on his Twitter microblog.
“However, he did not mention that the term ‘separatism’ is not an international legal term and lacks a defined international legal framework regarding what it should denote. He did not state that Armenia has requested explanations and clarifications regarding the implications or existence of this provision in the future. Otherwise, the future document could be burdened by phrases with multiple interpretations, which could lead to endless claims of violations stemming from differing interpretations by the parties involved,” Marukyan wrote.
