Why Ukraine's Counteroffensive is Delayed: Neue Zürcher Zeitung
The main reason for the delay of the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive, which official Kyiv has long announced, is the lack of heavy weaponry. This was reported on Thursday by the Swiss publication Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
Journalists recalled that Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly appealed to Western allies for heavy weaponry, but have not received it in sufficient quantities. Specifically, instead of 300 tanks, the Ukrainian armed forces have received at best 200.
In addition, the publication noted a shortage of artillery ammunition for commencing the counteroffensive.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov had previously stated that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces would begin secretly to "guarantee success." He urged Ukrainians not to expect a specific timeframe for the counteroffensive and not to raise the bar for expectations.
Meanwhile, a member of the regional administration of Zaporizhzhia, Vladimir Rogov, stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already transporting personnel and equipment across the bridges of Zaporizhzhia from the right bank to the left, which may indicate a forthcoming assault by the Ukrainian army.
