Video: Intoxicated Navigators to Be Fined by Water Patrols
A water unit will be established within the police patrol service, as announced by Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan at a government meeting. He added that the new service aims to ensure a safe and secure vision for Lake Sevan.
According to him, water patrols will serve as a universal service. The water patrol will be an additional function to the traditional patrol duties.
“This means that patrol officers included in the specialized patrol team will, as needed, perform other functions assigned to the patrol service in the Gegharkunik province,” noted the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The water patrol unit will be assigned several functions, including regulating compliance with operating requirements for water transport, verifying relevant documents, inspecting the sobriety state of navigators, isolating individuals found to be intoxicated while operating a watercraft, checking compliance with fire safety rules, inspecting watercraft, and prohibiting the operation of the watercraft on legally established grounds. This also includes provisions for transporting or transferring it to another person,” stated the minister.
Administrative liability measures are also planned for all these violations. Details can be found in the video.
