I Will Visit Artsakh at the First Opportunity: Human Rights Ombudsman
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, announced today that she is prepared to travel to Artsakh at the first available opportunity to demonstrate the human rights issues present there.
According to her, the Ombudsman's office is working in two directions regarding the situation in Artsakh, maintaining daily contact with the Artsakh Ombudsman. “Firstly, I am trying to engage in discussions with all stakeholders involved in the ongoing international efforts regarding the situation. I raise these issues within the framework of the Ombudsman’s mandate to ensure that my statements are credible. We are also considering other steps, and I will reach out to other organizations that have an Ombudsman mandate,” she stated.
In a press briefing with journalists, when asked if she is ready to visit the new checkpoint established by Azerbaijan, Manasyan emphasized, “I will try to visit Artsakh at the first opportunity; I believe it is important to showcase the human rights issues that exist there. At this moment, I am looking for opportunities and options to fulfill that intention.”
