No Changes to Armenian Positions, Says Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia addressed the ongoing developments related to the Lachin corridor during a government session, specifically regarding changes to the route.
“As you know, following the agreement reached in August 2022 between the authorities of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh, the route of the Lachin corridor was altered with the introduction of a new road. However, since the road connecting Armenia to the Lachin corridor was not fully ready, a temporary route was established, which entered Armenian territory via the Kornidzor bridge, then back into Azerbaijani territory, and then again into Armenia. According to the agreement, it was supposed to operate until April 1, 2023,” Pashinyan stated.
“The day before, we informed the Azerbaijani side that after the Kornidzor bridge, the road would continue only through Armenian territory, and border guard troops would take over the responsibility of protecting the Armenian state border. The border guard troops will be stationed at the state border of Armenia in the same positions where the Ministry of Defense units had been previously located. As a result of all this, there have been no changes to Armenian positions, except for the fact that we intend to carry out the protection of the disputed section through border guard troops, unlike before,” he concluded.
