Turkish Presidential Candidate Perinçek Promises to Withdraw Country from NATO
Turkish politician Doğu Perinçek, who aims to become the country's president, has pledged to withdraw Turkey from the North Atlantic Alliance if he wins the elections.
"Our party's decision to exit NATO and its justification are very weighty. According to polls, 80% of the Turkish population now considers the United States a threat, while 70% view Russia and China as friends," quotes Perinçek as reported by РИА Новости.
Doğu Perinçek leads the "Homeland" party in Turkey.
It is important to note that presidential elections in Turkey are scheduled for May 14, 2023. The politician believes that exiting NATO is necessary, as it currently presents the most serious threat to Turkey.
