‘There is a lot of dirt accumulated, cleaning is not easy’: Khachatryan
In an interview with journalists at the National Assembly, Vigen Khachatryan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction, stated that there have been numerous shortcomings in ensuring the educational level of the military personnel and their technical knowledge.
“I wouldn’t say it's espionage, but there have been manifestations of inappropriate behavior that have led to criminal cases being initiated,” Khachatryan said.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s mentioned ‘fifth column,’ Khachatryan noted: “There can be two manifestations of the fifth column. One is when a person is recruited as a spy, and the other is when a person, either willingly or unwillingly, serves the interests of another state, rather than their own. This is called the fifth column. Unfortunately, this phenomenon has also manifested within the army, where individuals responsible for certain aspects of the military have served the interests of non-Armenian border protection or the security of Artsakh.”
In response to a question about whether this indicates poor political management by the government, Khachatryan replied: “This means that the government is not yet solving all the issues effectively, because unfortunately, there are many questions, a lot of dirt has accumulated, and cleaning is not easy.”
