Pope Francis Ready to Visit Kyiv, but on One Condition
Pope Francis has expressed his willingness to visit Kyiv, but only if he can also travel to Moscow. He made this statement during an interview with the newspaper 'La Nació'.
“I am ready to go to Kyiv. I want to visit Kyiv. But it is on the condition that I also go to Moscow. Either I will visit both cities, or I will visit neither,” he stated.
The Pope has expressed hope that such a visit could take place.
The Vatican has repeatedly stated its readiness to act as a mediator in negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict. In an interview with 'la Stampa' last November, the pontiff mentioned that the Holy See is prepared to do everything possible to bring an end to the conflict. He has previously asserted that peace could be achievable in Ukraine.
