Khachatryan Arrested on Money Laundering Charges

Based on factual data obtained during the criminal proceedings conducted by the Investigation Department of the National Security Service, a request was submitted to the supervising prosecutor on February 20, 2023, to initiate public criminal prosecution against G.K., who served as the commander of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia from 2006 to 2010. The charges relate to legalizing real estate obtained through criminal means, in particular, money laundering, using his official position. The request was approved by the supervising prosecutor.

On the same day, charges were brought against G.K. He was arrested on the grounds stipulated by Article 111 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code, which allows for the detention of a defendant who is at large to present them in court.
