Turkey and Other Countries May Lose Access to U.S. Market Due to Non-Compliance with Sanctions Against Russia and Iran

The U.S. is concerned about the cooperation between several countries in the Middle East and the Kremlin, which is allowing Russia to mitigate the impact of anti-Russian sanctions, according to Reuters.

This issue will be raised during U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Brian Nelson's visit to the region next week. He will visit Turkey, Oman, and the UAE, where he will meet with foreign counterparts as well as representatives from businesses and financial institutions.

The Deputy Secretary intends to warn his interlocutors that their countries and organizations may lose access to the U.S. market if they continue to engage in business with sanctioned entities, and that these sanctions will persist and be intensified.

According to the news outlet, this is not the first U.S. demand regarding the cooperation between Russia and Turkey. Similar pressure was applied to Ankara last year. The White House is dissatisfied with Turkey's inadequate enforcement of the restrictions imposed against Russia.
