Azerbaijani Media Reaffirms the Fact of Artsakh Blockade: Artsakh Prosecutor's Office

Azerbaijani media once again reaffirmed the fact of the blockade of Artsakh. This was reported by the Artsakh Prosecutor's Office.

On January 9, 2022, media outlets serving Azerbaijan's information and propaganda interests published information indicating that during the 27 days of the blockade of the Stepanakert-Goris road, movement of 370 different types of vehicles had taken place in both directions, with 330 of them being by Russian peacekeepers, 31 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (including ambulances), and 3 ambulances belonging to Artsakh residents. The author of the article argued and attempted to show that Artsakh was not actually under blockade, although the data presented clearly illustrated the opposite.

To prove the nakedness of the Azerbaijani thesis, it is sufficient to reveal just three statistical indicators. Prior to the blockade of the only road connecting Artsakh with Armenia, the Stepanakert-Goris road, according to November 2022 figures, Armenia supplied 380-400 tonnes of food and other goods intended for public needs daily to Artsakh (10,260-10,800 tonnes over 27 days). On average, 454 vehicles moved in one direction through the 'Lachin Corridor' daily from Armenia to Artsakh (12,258 over 27 days), carrying more than 1,200 people (32,400 over 27 days). It is noteworthy that these figures are not only lower than those of the period preceding the 44-day war in 2020, but also compared to the demand necessary for ensuring the average level of welfare of the 120,000-strong population.

Azerbaijani media sources confirmed with the aforementioned publication that for 27 days, residents of the Republic of Artsakh were deprived of the opportunity to move through the corridor and connect with the Republic of Armenia, and that only Russian peacekeepers and ICRC representatives moved in the corridor.

Thus, the statistical data and arguments presented above reflect quite vividly and expressively the whole reality that currently exists in Artsakh and which Azerbaijan is making efforts to conceal from the international community. This was reported by the Artsakh Republic Prosecutor's Office.
