Sunak Calls on Iran to Halt Detention of Its Citizens

The United Kingdom will never accept the detention of its citizens as a diplomatic lever, said Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's representative, urging Iran to cease the detention of dual nationals after the arrest of seven individuals related to the UK.

“We are urgently seeking further information from the Iranian authorities regarding the dual nationals connected to the UK,” Sunak's representative told reporters.

“We have always said that we will not allow our citizens to be used as leverage for diplomatic influence, and we call on the Iranian government to stop the unjustifiable detention of British and other foreign nationals.”
