Georgia Will Not Receive EU Membership if Saakashvili Dies in Prison: European Parliament
The European Parliament (EP) will not approve Georgia's application to join the EU if former President Mikheil Saakashvili dies in custody. This was stated on Tuesday by Polish MP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, who represents the leading faction of the legislative body, the European People's Party, as reported by TASS.
“The parallels between Saakashvili and the prospects of Georgia's EU membership are fundamentally imperative. Both cases are inseparable. The European Parliament will never vote in favor of Georgia's EU membership if the former president remains in custody and dies in prison,” highlighted the European Parliament.
