The Pressure in Lachin is to Secure an Extraterritorial Corridor in Armenian Territory: Armen Grigoryan
The pressures on Armenia also stem from the idea of a union state, and Armenia’s democracy is resisting and facing military pressure. This was stated by the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, on the First Channel.
“The union state is a complete violation of sovereignty. There is no agenda for Armenia to enter into a union state. The democratic processes ongoing in Armenia restrict the opportunity to discuss this issue. The Armenian side has always been constructive and has remained so for two years since the war. Yerevan has not taken any steps that would create a diplomatic crisis between Armenia and Russia. The Armenian side expects that the Lachin corridor will reopen as soon as possible. The corridor is entirely under the responsibility of Russian peacekeepers. Currently, a crisis has emerged, and Azerbaijan is to blame; it has the opportunity to resolve this because it is authorized to do so as of November 9. By this action, Azerbaijan seeks to undermine the architecture of November 9, which should concern Russia. These actions have a broad context, aimed at supporting Azerbaijan and facilitating the establishment of a so-called corridor in Armenian territory, which Armenia is resisting.
This is the cause of the crisis. The relationship with Russia is contractual, and it does not specify whether they are ideal at the moment or not. We will continue to expect actions, but if there are none, questions will arise as to why. The pressure present in Lachin is aimed at securing an extraterritorial corridor in Armenian territory. At this moment, all of Armenia's tools to solve the crisis are diplomatic,” said the Secretary of the Security Council.
