Special security service to be independent from NSS, will report to Prime Minister
The National Assembly has fully adopted the draft law on amendments and additions to the law on ensuring the security of individuals under special state protection in its second reading, along with the accompanying package of legislative initiatives.
The State Protection Service will be given the status of a body subordinate to the Prime Minister, thereby removing it from the system of the National Security Service.
According to Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, this reform will allow the NSS to focus on several important areas of work. "State protection is one of the important functions carried out by state institutions. The reform is very important," Grigoryan said.
