Movement through the Lachin Corridor Must be Restored Urgently: Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe
Officials responsible for the security of the Lachin Corridor must take the necessary measures to restore movement on an urgent basis and prevent the worsening of the humanitarian situation.
This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Dunja Mijatović, who noted that she has been closely monitoring the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh since the blockage of the road through the Lachin Corridor on December 12.
"I am concerned that the prolonged disruption of people's movement, which has left some unable to reach their homes, as well as disruptions in access to essential goods and services, including food supplies and emergency medical assistance, threaten the realization of human rights by the population of Nagorno-Karabakh," said Dunja Mijatović. She has called for immediate action to restore movement along the road.
