Relatives of Soldier Raise Alarm: 'They Said at the Military Commissariat He Won't Become a Minister or High Official'
A decision has been made to release three servicemen who were trapped and captured during the combat operations of September 13, 2022, from the army. Sources in the defense ministry have confirmed this news to Forrights.
"We have learned that of the 17 soldiers who were captured during that period and returned to the homeland on October 4, three have already returned to service, despite having health issues. Some of the remaining 11 are continuing treatment in the hospital, while others have been sent home for maternal care. It is noteworthy that the soldiers returning from captivity are not undergoing rehabilitation treatment.
One of the servicemen in the hospital is currently in a very serious psychological state and has almost no contact with anyone. He was transferred back to duty shortly after returning from captivity. However, just 3-4 days later, his health condition deteriorated sharply, leading to hospitalization. As of now, it is unclear under whose decision this serviceman was called back and what responsibility he faces.
We have also learned that the defense ministry is releasing servicemen who returned from captivity under the pretext of being ‘unfit for service.’ Relatives of soldiers subjected to inhumane psychological and physical abuse in Baku view the discharge as a positive step, but they also express concerns that their sons' more than one year of service is being nullified.
"They said at the military commissariat, he won't become a minister or a senior official, so it won’t interfere with him. There will be some restrictions, but I don’t know what those restrictions are," said a relative of one of the soldiers, noting that the fears of his family member have somewhat eased, but issues such as forgetfulness and nervous anxiety remain unresolved.
