Den McCafferty, Founder of Nazareth Rock Band, Dies
Den McCafferty, the Scottish rock singer and founding member of the band Nazareth, has passed away at the age of 76.
The announcement was made on the band's official Facebook page. "Den passed away today at 12:40 PM. Merien, McCafferty's wife, and the entire family lost a wonderful, loving husband and father. I lost my best friend, and the world lost one of the greatest singers to ever live," wrote band member Pete Agnew.
McCafferty founded Nazareth in 1968 alongside Pete Agnew, Manny Charlton, and Darrell Sweet. The band rose to fame after the release of the album Hair of the Dog in 1975.
After leaving the band in 2013 due to health reasons, McCafferty released a solo album titled Last Treatment in 2019.
