Iranian Companies Capable of Building Quality Tunnels: Minister on Kajaran Tunnel Construction
The construction of the Kajaran tunnel on the North-South highway has been discussed with the Iranian side. This was announced today, November 7, during a conversation with journalists by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan.
“The section of the highway in Syunik has three parts: from Sisian to Kajaran, the Kajaran tunnel, and from Kajaran to Agarak. For the other two sections, we have partners with whom we have already moved past discussions. The funding sources are clear, and we have a competitive process underway. For the tunnel, we want to work with Iranian partners, and if possible, to look for suitable options with Iranian loans or budgetary funds,” Sanosyan said.
He emphasized that Iranian companies have the capabilities to build quality tunnels and can also present good financial offers.
According to Gnel Sanosyan, the significant traffic congestion at Lars occurs because the relevant Russian services are forced to inspect vehicles more thoroughly. “The congestion is decreasing, but we are trying to resolve the issue with our Russian and Georgian partners,” he noted.
Is it possible that the ruling party will sign the peace treaty while Azerbaijani forces are in the sovereign territory of Armenia? Sanosyan believes that the peace treaty is the right direction for resolving issues: “The peace treaty implies the restoration of sovereign territory.”
