Video: Fake Driver's Licenses Issued for Large Sums of Money

The Criminal Police Department's Division for Combating Financial and Intellectual Property Crimes received information regarding the issuance of fake driver's licenses, which led to the initiation of a criminal case by the Masis investigative division.

As a result of subsequent joint operations, it was established that a group of individuals had exploited the trust of four citizens and embezzled a large sum of money through the following fraudulent mechanism. Under the pretext of obtaining driver's licenses without examination, they demanded between 125,000 and 250,000 drams from citizens and then provided fake driver's licenses, embezzling a total of 875,000 drams.

A number of procedural actions have been undertaken within the framework of the criminal case, and counterfeit driver's licenses have been seized, with two individuals arrested. Circumstances are being clarified during the pre-trial investigation.

"Incidentally, this is not the first case of fraud related to obtaining driver's licenses. We urge our citizens to acquire driver's licenses exclusively through legal means," the police stated in their press release.
