According to Lukashenko, if the occupant is their person, then the CSTO does not function: Armen Khachatryan
“The Republic of Armenia is well aware of its interests and is pushing them forward, and of course, the discussion will be around the interests of the Republic of Armenia regarding what results we will have, especially since the issue relates to the positions of other countries and the decisions of their leaders. At this moment, I believe it is inappropriate to make forecasts,” said Armen Khachatryan, a member of the National Assembly’s Civil Contract faction, in a conversation with reporters.
Regarding what to expect from the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia scheduled for October 31 in Sochi, Khachatryan stated that he does not wish to make predictions.
When asked which option Armenia leans towards in the agreement - Western or Russian - the MP expressed annoyance, stating that there are no Western or Russian options for Armenia, and they are only inclined towards the interests of the Republic of Armenia.
Commenting on the harsh speech of the President of Belarus the day before, Khachatryan noted that Lukashenko momentarily forgot that he is the leader of a CSTO member state and that he acts there as a member state that has signed specific obligations in certain situations. “Lukashenko should simply propose an amendment to the CSTO member state agreement that if the leader of the aggressor, occupying country is their person, the CSTO might not act; that was what Lukashenko meant, and I would advise adding that,” he added.
Today, a selection of members of the Civil Contract party's board will take place; there will be a closed, secret ballot, and several questions do not need to be highlighted; they will be covered as much as necessary, noted the National Assembly member in response to a question about why the congress is closed to journalists.
