VIDEO: What to Do During Air Raid Alarms
The Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia has posted an informative video on his Facebook page, accompanied by a note: “Civil defense structures (shelters) are designed to reduce the intensity of shock waves. The importance of these structures becomes even more evident in wartime conditions.
Shelter improvement programs are being implemented throughout the Republic. The population's sheltering calculations are carried out by local community leadership. All information is summarized and sent to the rescue departments of Yerevan and the regions.
As per my directives and those of the head of the rescue service, groups formed by firefighters from the Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly conduct inspections of apartment buildings, private houses, and basements, accompanied by staff from local self-government bodies. They photograph the area and inform their superiors of the conditions, who in turn relay the situation to the local authorities to address any existing deficiencies.
Metro stations, underground passages, and the basements of schools and kindergartens also serve as shelters. Public awareness campaigns are conducted by local communities. The Ministry of Emergency Situations organizes thematic drills.
