Georgia's President Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict

Georgia’s President Salome Zourabichvili has called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In a statement released on Twitter on September 15, she stated, “Georgia condemns the dangerous escalation between our two neighbors and friends, Armenia and Azerbaijan.”

She emphasized that peace is essential for the development of the Caucasus and will bring benefits to the population in the future.

Previously, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili expressed concern regarding the events occurring along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

It is noteworthy that on the night of September 13, around 00:05, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an attack along the state border of the Republic of Armenia, conducting military operations in the directions of Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Gegharkunik regions. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia reported that positions located in Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar were targeted by shelling. Civilian infrastructure has also been affected by the strikes. Preliminary data indicates that the Armenian side has suffered 105 casualties.

During a press briefing yesterday evening, Ministry spokesperson Aram Torosyan reported that since 20:00, the firing had nearly ceased in all directions, and no significant incidents were registered.
