‘What Putin Said Is Very Important for Artsakh’: Ruben Vardanyan
Businessman Ruben Vardanyan posted a segment from President Putin's speech at the forum in Vladivostok on September 7 on his Facebook page and commented:
“What Putin said is very important for Artsakh. The right to self-determination of nations is a fundamental norm in international law, and the entire Armenian diplomacy regarding the issue of Artsakh should be built around this principle. It is clear that the self-determination of Artsakh was implemented in 1991 based on international law and in compliance with all principles of international law. There is no contradiction with the principle of territorial integrity in this context. This was affirmed by the International Court of Justice in its advisory opinion on the Kosovo case in 2010.
In the case of Artsakh, the right to self-determination is the right of the people of Artsakh to live based on their own decisions, as the alternative is ethnic cleansing, and threats to this effect are openly articulated by official Azerbaijani media. Unfortunately, the Armenian authorities continue to forget the supremacy of the principles of equality of nations and self-determination in the diplomatic process, and it is very good that Nikol Pashinyan personally heard about its importance. The inalienable right of the people living in Artsakh to continue their lives based on their own decisions can never be disputed,” wrote Ruben Vardanyan.
